On April 18th, the China Cultural Center in Nigeria hosted a grand event titled "Lanting Yaji: Writing Sino-Nigerian Friendship." The occasion was graced by distinguished guests including Li Xuda, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria and Director of the China Cultural Center in Nigeria, and Liu Zhanping, Deputy Director of the Cultural Center. Over 70 attendees, including Ben Nugu, representative of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy and Director of the Department of Cultural Industry and Heritage of Nigeria, Suleiman, President of the National Artists Association of Nigeria, as well as representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises, teachers, and students, came together to witness this celebration of cultural exchange.
A highlight of the event was Ms. Yang Bizhu, wife of Fan Yongsheng, Deputy General Manager of BGICC, who participated in the competition and was honored with the "Special Contribution Award." Her achievement added a special touch to the festivities, emphasizing the deep and enduring friendship between China and Nigeria.

In his speech, Li Xuda highlighted the importance of calligraphy as a cornerstone of traditional Chinese culture. He explained that the "Lanting Yaji" series of events aims to create a vibrant platform for mutual exchange, allowing participants to appreciate the elegance of Chinese painting and calligraphy while deepening understanding and fostering the friendship between China and Nigeria. Li Xuda also mentioned that Wang Xizhi's "Preface to the Poem Collection at Lanting" is not only a pinnacle of Chinese calligraphy but also a significant symbol of Chinese cultural heritage.

The exhibition showcased masterpieces in the five major styles of Chinese calligraphy: seal script, official script, regular script, running script, and cursive script, highlighting the art's profound depth and breadth. The hands-on workshops offered calligraphy enthusiasts a chance to engage directly with the art form, allowing them to experience and appreciate the charm of Chinese calligraphy through interactive learning.
