ACHIEVEMENTS

The world's largest power grid

Now, the length of transmission loop line at 220kV and over in China has reached over 480,000 kilometers, with an average annual growth rate of 10.8%. Public transforming equipment capacity has reached 2200 GVA, with an average annual growth rate of 17.26%. At present, the scale of China's grid has been ranked 1 in the world. The gradually expanding grid scale and increasing voltage level have guaranteed 1000kV UHV AC and ± 800kV UHV DC projects’ operation. Currently, most region of the country has formed a main grid of 500 kV (northwestern regions at 330 kV). The grids in Northeast, North, Northwest, Central, East and South China have achieved full interconnection.

The world’s highest transmission voltage level

With China’s completely independent intellectual property rights, 1000kV Jindongnan- Nanyang-Jingmen UHV AC Pilot Project is operating at the world’s highest voltage level and with the most advanced technology. The project starts at Jindongnan Substation in Shanxi province, passes through Nanyang Substation in Henan province and ends at Jingmen Substation in Hubei province with a total length of 640 kilometers. This project is the first in the world coming up with the technical standards of UHV AC transmission system, revising and publishing a number of national standards and enterprise standards. It established China’s leading position in the world in UHV transmission technology, equipment manufacturing, engineering design, construction and operation.

The world's longest UHV DC transmission lines

Xiangjiaba-Shanghai ±800 kV UHV DC Transmission Pilot Project was put into operation, another UHV DC project following Yunnan-Guangdong UHV DC Project. Xiangjiaba-Shanghai project, starts at Fulong convertor station in Yibin, Sichuan Province and ends at Fengxian convertor station in Shanghai, passing through Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Shanghai, crossing the Yangtze River for four times. The project, with a total length of 1907 kilometers and 7GW of transmission capacity, has the world's largest transmission capacity, longest delivering distance, most advanced technology and highest voltage. The project, all out of China's independent development, design and construction, is a world-class innovation by China in the field of energy, representing the highest level of world’s UHV DC technology.
